Description

Second-grade students participated in a global project about communities with 10 other schools. Sao Paola, a school in Brazil, led this project.

Plan

• Students took pictures around the community and uploaded it to Voicethread.
• Students typed up and rehearsed their comments about their pictures about their community.
• They used the video option to comment on their pictures.

Goals

To share events, values and cultures that make a community; to collaborate with other classrooms around the world; to learn what others do in their communities.

Tips

VoiceThread was easily used by all students. Getting the microphones to work was a difficult point, and in the end the students did 1-1 commenting on a laptop. Make sure everything works well in the computer lab before the commenting phase is attempted.
